The Cycle of Alchemy and the Embodied Master
In the cycle of body zones described by the Nine Breaths, the chin is the point where the energy, after having risen from the earth through the different centres (pelvis, chest, head) and having been linked with the forces of the worlds around us, will come down to earth…. in the earth of our pelvis.
It is a harvesting point of our being : our material, emotional, psychic experience has nourished our whole body in its structure, something essential can be extracted from it and put back into our roots.
It is, among other things, this downward inclination of energy that makes us call the archetype associated with the chin « Master »: a dimension of us that knows life because it has lived through it and can lean towards our inner people to help them benefit from it.
The Divine Chin and Authority
The chin is like two hands touching. We often forget that it is a joint, a gathering of two mobile bones: in fact, the mandibles are to the head what the arms or legs are to the chest or pelvis: mobile segments made to enter into relationship with what surrounds us: the earth, the air, knowledge…
… and if we consider these two mandibles as springs that let the inspirations of heaven flow into the body (see the articles on bishop and bard), the chin is the point where these two currents meet.
The messages from heaven are assembled there, distilled into a personal truth that takes shape there and can be expressed from there.
Perhaps this is why the chin has been the prerogative of authority since antiquity: pharaohs are represented with a hairpiece, symbolising their kinship with the gods, their intimacy with the inspirations of heaven.
The season of affirmation or doubt
On the scale of the year, since this is the season associated with the Master, let us note that we are indeed, traditionally, in a period of return to the base.
It is the feast of the dead, of All Saints, of Samain.
It is the end of the harvest, the time for taking stock, for learning from this past cycle, for what seems true now… before releasing it into the humus as the leaves offer themselves to decomposition.
The wisdom of the Earth will do the rest between now and the next renewal.
The poet is master
The Master is the enlightened aspect of the Poet.
The truths he expresses are not judgmental, they are roundness and beauty… and yet like the incisors, they can slice and dice because they affirm that not everything is to be kept, that choices must be made to create its reality. It is a poetry that is law and can act on matter because it speaks its language, like the ancient prophets who spoke with the sword of metaphors and parables.
By choosing, impartially and justly, the Master shapes the matter of life. He must do this with flexibility, because in the end he can only give directions to the earth which will compose its impulses and give birth to new shoots which are often unpredictable because they belong to a new cycle.
Pathologies of the chin
The symptoms of this area of the body are fractures of the incisors, the chin, gum problems or any other dental problems and inflammations of this area. From this reading, we can assume a relationship to our ability to assert our inner truth, to feel calm in our authority. This can range from excessive self-effacement to forced, hard affirmation… from permanent doubt to rigid certainties.
In these symptoms there is an invitation to question our relationship to affirmation, which when healthy is devoid of devaluation and manipulation. The message of the Master The Master invites us to assert ourselves, by putting beauty in our power.
At a time when many people’s emotions are raw and it is not so easy to say what one has to say, I give you here the advice for action from the « Body Cards » booklet:
« Keep a notebook of everything you don’t say, that you hold back. In writing, express them first in the most complete way, then in the most poetic way, then in the most direct way. Say all this out loud in front of a mirror, or a tree, or a stone. Let some time pass and then if necessary express it freely to the people concerned. »
Generally speaking, the Master asks these questions:
« Do you take a stand from your feelings? »
« Do you consider yourself a lord in your field? »
