The awakening of the Bear
In the Basque Country, as in other regions, we are now entering the carnival period. This is the awakening of the Bear.
Popular wisdom knows that the movement of the sap that goes up the stems and vertical trunks begins under the earth, in an invisible yet perceptible way. This pre-spring is like the rumbling of rocks splitting under the effect of tectonic thrusts. By inertia effect, although the days are getting longer, the cold may be more intense than ever… but from below the heat comes. The frost crust is actually part of the preparation for the rise of life. Seeds and buds are now undergoing the processes that will allow their dormancy to be lifted.
In our bodies as in nature, power is in action, everything in us is preparing to leap into the manifested spring.
The hip, the thigh and the archetype of the Fiery One
The thighs and hips are the strongest parts of our body. The muscles of the buttocks allow us to leap, to propel ourselves, to engage space with all our might.
The entire legs are expansions of our instinctive centre that go into contact with the forces of the earth, the powers of the world below…. as our arms go into contact with the forces of the middle world… and in comparison to this, our legs can be considered to dive into the living masses of the earth to meet and play with them.
The thighs and hips are the beginning of these legs and convey the initial impulse to go into movement. As the legs are the family of the Knight, we have named hip and thigh « Fiery ». The hip allows us to combine great mobility, power and support for the rest of the body: a miracle of anatomy thanks to which walking, running, jumping and leaping is a game. The Chevalier Fougueux propels us through life.
The joy of the impetus
The Fiery One is that rider who lets out a great cry of joy and dashes across the steppe without restraint. It is the exhilarating momentum, the feeling of power that comes over us when we give it our all. There is a smile in this full, healthy, unrestrained expression of strength… because the Fougueux who impels the movement of the leg is also the most childlike, spontaneous part of the Chevalier family.
It is also remarkable that the shape of the head of the femur completely evokes that of the baby’s head which passes through the womb at birth: same inclination, same proportions. The strength is born from the pelvis like the child... and the strength of the femur is given in return to the cut of the pelvis, with respect for the inclination of its head.
The momentum is joyful and irrepressible at the same time.
With this we can throw ourselves on the dragon to tame it, make its power our own and follow its movement without trying to contain it.
Hip and thigh symptoms
The symptoms of the hip often reflect a lack of joy and momentum: life is too dull, contained, energy is not released enough.
It is perhaps not insignificant that older people often suffer from this, or even fracture the neck of the femur: few people experience entering old age as an exciting adventure, a source of new energy…
The pressure of a life of seriousness or fear makes it difficult to change age with the eternal curiosity of a child.
The pressure of a serious or fearful life makes it difficult to change age with the eternal curiosity of a child. This is certainly what the spirited one proposes to us, at each stage of our life, to know how to cross the passages and to dash into the unknown with vigour, just as the leg springs up from the safe space of the basin…
The message of the Fiery One
« What place do you give to your power?
« When was the last time you took the risk of launching yourself into the unknown with all your strength?
« Do you feel stable in your supports?
